Oops...

I think I may have forgot to mention on here.... THAT I GOT A JOB!!!
(it is a good thing b/c now we will have a lot more money, it is a bad things b/c I won't be able to sit at the pool and read books)

I had a phone interview on Monday,
an in-person interview on Tuesday,
and I got a call Tues. afternoon that I was hired.
Unfortunately, it is a temp to hire job,
but I am hoping i will be hired shortly.
The nice thing is that it is an 8-5 job
and it pays pretty well.
It is with a mortgage company.
I will be working with mortgage holders,
who are 3-5 months behind on their mortgage
and helping them work out a loan modification.
I hope I like it.
I start on Monday, so today was my last work-less weekday.
And I "pooled" it up.

Enjoy this beautiful, hot weather!

Food and whatnot...

Well, I just thought I should tell you that I made absolutely awesome pizza last night. The proof of which, I just had a piece of cold pizza and it was breathtaking.

I followed this recipe for the pizza crust. And mixed up my own sauce from tomato sauce, garlic, italian seasoning, parmesan, etc. We topped it with pepperoni, green olives, onion and red pepper. It was the best pizza I have made yet. (Not to brag or anything)

Also, a couple of weeks ago I made bruschetta from this recipe. It was very, very good. Brian and I both composed our "last meals" and both traded our the red pepper goat cheese cups for these. (I know, I know, crazy...)  Here is a somewhat bad photo I took with my phone of them:

And now I am off to our pool, which looks like this:
But first, here is a picture of how Potter likes to stand in the car. Isn't she a weirdo. Also, one of my favorite things is how she wags her tail when I laugh. Brian and I will be talking and I will laugh and I will hear her tail wag, well actually her tail hitting something because it is wagging. Isn't that adorable?

Have a good weekend!

Nothing much new...

I thought I would take a minute to update the blog.
Not too much is new.
I am still looking for a job.
I am supposed to have a phone interview today
and I keep waiting for the phone call.
Brian went to a conference last week for work
and i decided to take a spur of the moment trip to IL.
It was nice and relaxing.

Potter got sick last saturday.
She was throwing up and pooping all over
so we took her to the emergency vet.
It was expensive and scary but she is feeling fine now.

We have been LOVING Kansas City.
With our friends Erin and Timmy we have been exploring the city.
It is nice because we are finding as many free things as possible to do.
I will say this, it is hotter than michigan.
We actually have a heat index warning for today.
I am considering going out to sit by our pool
but I feel like I should be applying to jobs and cleaning our apt.
We will see which wins out.

I will end this post with a food update:

We went to a super fun restaurant, it is called Fritz's Railroad restaurant. It was fun because the food is brought to you by a train and then lowered to the table. It was awesome.

I am in LOVE with Sonic's Cherry Limeades. They are delicious and refreshing.

Weird things...

Here are some weird things that have been happening to me:

1. I laid in the sun, by the pool, two days in a row and didn't get burned (highly unusual for my skin that is so white, it is almost blue)

2. Brian had a dream last night where I demanded he make me a sandwich. When he woke up, he thought it was real so there is a sandwich in the fridge for me. (what a good husband)

3. Potter is shedding again. This is not so much weird, as it is annoying and gross.

4. Our upstairs neighbor has one daughter who is 9 and another who is 39. There is a 30 years difference, isn't that weird?

5. This one isn't really weird but I wanted to round out the list with a number five. The fact that I am having a great time in Kansas City. We had one of the best weekends ever. It was fun, relaxing and busy. Now it is time to get back to the daily grind and find me a job.

Brother of mine...

I am so proud of my big brother Rob.
He is running the Chicago marathon this year,
and in the process he is raising money for autism speaks.
Here is what he posted on facebook:

"I have joined forces with Autism Speaks for thie 2009 Chicago Marathon on October 11th. I ran my first marathon back in 2000 and have wanted to run another ever since then. I was unable to make the commitment before now, because I was leading a very unhealthy life (understatement). Over the past 18 months, I have made a lot of changes in my life (down 82 lbs for starters) and I knew it was time.

I recently reunited with some old friends on Facebook as they were moving from Las Vegas to New Jersey. They picked up everything and moved so their son with Autism could get the best schooling possible. They are two of my favorite people that I have come across in my life and it really touched me and inspired me. The schooling is VERY expensive and people of all economic classes are affected by Autism. I wanted to help...

I joined Autism Speaks because I think it is a great cause and it helps with research and education of Autism. They recently pledged $128 million in new research funding through 2014 to uncover the cause(s), prevention, treatments and cure for autism, making it the nation's top private funder of autism research. They set my goal at $1500 and I would love to double it. I know that we are in very tough economic times, so any little bit helps. I would appreciate any notes of encouragement or anything else you can think of to help me along the way. I have a donation page set-up at the following link:

My friends have a site set up for the son at www.johnnysjourney.com. There are magazine subscriptions available and the family receives 40% of the money to go directly to their sons schooling. Please check it out.

Thanks for all your support and God Bless,

Rob"

If you are so inclined, please feel free to make some donations to his great cause.

Another Update!

I still can't find our camera so I took these pictures with my phone. It takes pretty good pictures though. I will start out with a picture of my new glasses. Here it is.
This is what you see when you walk in our door.
If you turn to the left, you will walk down the hall, our 2nd bathroom is the left, spare bedroom on the end and our room on the right. It also has our thermometer on the left. It is so nice to control our own temperature.
This is our spare bathroom.

The pictures start to skip around now, b/c they uploaded weird, so bare with me, here is a picture of our kitchen. It is so nice, with new fridge, dishwasher and stove. It also has a really nice pantry. Our first pantry ever.
Here is a picture of the centerpiece I made. Those fruits are the fake ones I got at Target with Sue and Andrea. The candles are sage and citrus Yankee candles (my favorite).
Here is our back patio. I hung Christmas lights.

Here is the front of our building. Isn't it cute?
The disaster room, aka our spare room, my project for tomorrow.
The view of our living room from our dining room.
The living room.

Brian and Potter (in case you forgot).
Our dining room, maybe our favorite room. Also, we actually have been eating at our table.
It is pretty open, which we like.
Our kitchen, we want to get some stools for our island. They are surprisingly expensive, so we will have to wait until I get a job.
Here is our bedroom.

This is the master bath. It only has a shower. It is so nice to have a bathroom two steps from my side of the bed.
THE END!

I hope you like it. Please come visit and pray that I get a job.

EDIT: Applied to 13 jobs today in total and had an awesome free root beer float from Sonic with Erin and Timmy. Good night!

Jobs, jobs, jobs...

I am job applying machine.
Today I have applied for 10,
yesterday for 14.
I hope I start to get some calls.

Our apartment is almost done being unpacked.
We just have our 2nd bedroom left.
It is a disaster zone.
We plan on unpacking it tonight.

I really like our apartment.
We will post some pictures when I find the camera.

It is so nice being close to Timmy and Erin.
They are less than a 5 min walk.
And it is so fun to have "couple friends" as awesome as them.

I have been feeling that craft bug.
The bad thing is, I don't have any specific ideas
or any money to spend on crafts.
BUT, it is less than 2 months until my birthday.

Alright, time for me to charge this battery and go sit on our deck and read a book. It is a tough life that I am living....
